About the Death Match Series
The Metal Nerdery Head-to-Head Death Match is one of the most beloved recurring formats in the podcast's history — taking two albums from the same era, the same genre, or the same rivalry, and going track by track until a winner is declared. The WWF Baphomet presides. #NoDraws. The carnage is real.
The series launched with Slayer's Show No Mercy vs Hell Awaits in October 2022 — and immediately set the standard for what a Death Match episode could be. Every Death Match since has followed the same format: track by track, no mercy, one winner. More Death Matches are always coming. 🤘
